Small-scale solar plays big role in US market as installers ramp growth and pursue home batteries
Rooftop solar installer Sunrun reported strong growth last week, highlighting small-scale solar’s big role in the US market. The company ended the first quarter of 2021 with over half a million customers, growing that base by 18pc over the previous year. Data from the EIA shows US small-scale solar continues to track at roughly half the market generation share of utility-scale solar. Small-scale solar generated 34.96TWh compared with big solar’s 68.72TWh. And in 2020, small-scale generated 41.47TWh to big solar’s 87.74
