SLB-ACC JV wins FEED for project at US pulp and paper mill
Development on US Gulf Coast designed to use modular capture technology to generate verifiable carbon dioxide removals
A recently formed joint venture (JV) between international technology firm SLB and Norway-based Aker Carbon Capture ASA has been awarded a contract by US developer CO280 Solutions for FEED of a substantial carbon capture plant at a pulp and paper mill on the US Gulf Coast. The landmark project aims to eliminate 800,000t/yr of carbon emissions, including biogenic CO₂, generating permanent, verifiable, and cost-effective carbon dioxide removals (CDRs). North America’s pulp and paper industry holds a carbon removal opportunity of up to 130mt/yr, according to SLB-ACC JV. By effectively sequestering these emissions, it is claimed the industry can achieve negative emissions—removing more carbon di
