Secretary general says oil can help solve trilemma and is upbeat on ‘flexible’ OPEC role to help manage crude supply longer term
The world needs more energy of all kinds to solve the issues of security, affordability and sustainability, and we must be mindful of ideological outlooks that ignore on-the-ground realities, according to OPEC. Secretary General Haitham al-Ghais also told Petroleum Economist in an interview that oil will be around for the long term—meaning we need an inclusive approach—and that OPEC+’s best days are ahead of it in terms of helping manage the world’s evolving oil needs.
