Substantial increases in pipeline infrastructure over the next two years are expected to supercharge gas consumption
The Indian government may find that fulfilling its ambition of increasing gas’ share of the primary energy mix to 15pc from the current 6.3pc by 2030 easier said than done. While the country wants to wean itself off coal and diversify its energy sources, it must balance the competing aims of an increasingly voracious appetite for energy, efforts to reduce emissions via use of gas, and the global risks over availability of LNG and the potential impact on prices.
