Ikike indicates IOCs are still willing and able to develop the right projects in Nigeria’s upstream
TotalEnergies has started production at the Ikike shallow-water field offshore Nigeria and expects to reach peak output of 50,000bl/d oe by the end of this year. Ikike is 20km off the coast in water depths of 20m. It is tied back to the existing Amenam offshore facilities, reducing capex. The use of existing infrastructure “fits the company’s strategy of focusing on low-cost and low-emission oil projects”, says Henri-Max Ndong-Nzue, senior vice-president for Africa, exploration and production at TotalEnergies.
