Drilling campaign adds yet another major oil find in the prolific block
ExxonMobil and joint venture partner Hess have announced another significant oil discovery offshore Guyana in the Stabroek block. Drilling at the Whiptail prospect encountered 246ft (75m) of net pay in high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoir, 4 miles southeast of the Uaru oil discovery and 3 miles west of the Yellowtail field. The drill rig will next target deeper prospects at the site. The companies say the find could form the basis for a future oil development in Stabroek and adds to the recoverable resource base of roughly 9bn bl oe.
