Spirit boosts Grove reserves
Successful drilling should significantly extend the UKCS field’s life
UK independent Spirit Energy has found more gas at its Grove field on the UK continental shelf (UKCS), close to the border with the Netherlands’ territorial waters. The Grove Northeast development well penetrated an undrained part of the field and should result in a significant extension to its lifespan. “We achieved first gas from the well on 25 August. The production is in line with subsurface prognosis and pre-drill estimates,” says Girish Kabra, Spirit’s director for North Sea operated assets. “The commercial discovery is important for Grove as it opens up future growth opportunities in and around the licence blocks. The discovery adds volumes and prolongs the Grove field life from 2022
