IOG’s Blythe startup slips
The first of the UK’s independent’s SNS projects has been pushed back into Q4
A development well at the Blythe gas field in the Southern North Sea (SNS) will now not be completed until October, a month later than planned, due to delays on a development well at its Elgood field, operator Independent Oil & Gas (IOG) said on Monday. First gas from the company’s Phase 1 project is thus delayed until Q4 2021. IOG has experienced “a number of mechanical issues” on the Elgood well since it spudded in early April, which extended it beyond its initially expected three-month duration. And its preliminary integration of the well data indicates the range of ultimately recoverable gas at Elgood may be less than the pre-well estimates. But it was by no means all bad news for IO
