The EU’s council of energy ministers will hold another extraordinary meeting on 24 November, “where we will conclude everything”, says council chairman and Czech trade minister Jozef Sikela. His statement came after the council met to discuss European Commission proposals to tackle the energy crisis, although significant disagreement between member states has been widely reported. The proposals comprise the introduction of joint gas purchasing by member states, establishing what EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson terms a “dynamic cap on TTF” prices before the eventual introduction of a new, alternative gas benchmark and further measures “to strengthen solidarity between member states”.
