Oil sands boost sees Canada book record output
Production hit an all-time high in Alberta, which is generates the most oil production in Canada
Oil production in the Canadian province of Alberta hit an all-time high in 2012, according to the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB). The regulatory authority's annual reserve report shows a 14% jump in production of oil, bitumen and natural gas liquids (NGLs). That beat the US Energy Information Administration's October forecast of an 8.3% increase in Canadian output in 2012. Alberta is home to 70% of Canada's oil production, and pumped or shoveled 2.5 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2012.
