Lake Albert oil project and pipeline get go-ahead
The development will see Ugandan crude exported from the Tanzanian port of Tanga
The governments of Uganda and Tanzania, France’s Total, and Chinese NOC Cnooc have signed the final agreements for the Lake Albert oil development and its integral East African Crude Oil Pipeline (Eacop). The project will transport 230,000bl/d of Ugandan crude via Tanzania to the port of Tanga. The developers expect to export the first oil cargo in early 2025 and intend to award the main engineering, procurement and construction contracts shortly. 2025 – First oil exports expected Among the deals signed were the shareholders’ agreement for Eacop and the tariff and transportation agreement between the Eacop partnership and the Lake Albert oil shippers, with the latter comprising Total
