Lower Saxony targets floating LNG this year and next
The northwest German state’s environment and energy minister foresees an import terminal ready this winter and another next year
“With the floating LNG import facility already planned for Wilhelmshaven for the winter of 2022, with another one earmarked for 2023, as well as the stationary LNG terminals in Stade and Wilhelmshaven, Lower Saxony will be ‘green gas ready’ and also prepared for the necessary energy imports.” So says Olaf Lies, the state’s environment and energy minister, as German accelerates plans to give itself options beyond its significant reliance on Russian gas imports.
