Uruguay has long been one of the forerunners in Latin America in embracing new technologies and renewable energy. This has led to 95% of its electricity now being generated from renewable sources, including 60% from hydropower, 30% from wind power and growing solar photovoltaic and biomass options. Now DUCSA, alongside Uruguay's state-owned power company UTE, has begun transforming the country's transport network by promoting widespread adoption of electric vehicles—the first initiative of its kind in Latin America.
