The market for commercial electric vehicles (EVs) in the US is hampered by a lack of models from automakers, meaning demand in the segment may not reach critical mass until towards the end of this decade. Global EV sales accelerated last year to reach 6.6mn, with EVs in Europe alone accounting for one in six car purchases, according to the International Energy Agency—a sign that some regions have reached or are nearing the inflection point in EV adoption.
