Bill includes point-of-sale credits on US-built EVs and $1bn towards charging and refuelling stations
The US Democratic Party’s $1.7tn social spending bill will inevitably be changed—and most likely pared back—as it moves through the closely divided Senate. But some of the key clean-fuel vehicle provisions of the bill are expected to survive. Federal policies on electric vehicles (EVs) have not changed in a decade, so any shifts—such as an extension of credits or lifting the cap on manufacturer sales—would be highly significant, says Corey Cantor, an EV analyst at research firm BloombergNEF.
