ExxonMobil has unveiled plans to achieve net-zero scope one and two emissions from its operations in the US Permian basin by 2030. The plan includes the elimination of routine flaring by the end of next year and the electrification of operations in New Mexico and Texas with low-carbon power, which may include wind, solar, hydrogen, natural gas with carbon capture and storage, or other emerging technologies. ExxonMobil also plans to boost its systems for the detection of methane leaks.
