Gabon is on course to increase its oil production next year, demonstrating its potential as a frontier region. But new initiatives in its E&P industry is increasingly dominated by independents rather than oil majors. The West African country’s Dussafu Marin permit comprises an offshore licence area with multiple discovered fields and is owned by a joint venture (JV) comprising Norwegian operator BW Energy (73.5pc), Oslo-based Panoro Energy (17.5pc) and state-owned Gabon Oil Company (10pc).
