Australia The partners in the Otway Gas Project have approved development of the A$1.1bn ($0.794bn) Thylacine and Geographe gasfields, offshore Victoria. The project involves initial expenditure of A$0.81bn on the Thylacine field in Tasmanian permit T/30P. Construction, which is expected to start in October 2004, with first gas in mid-2006, will involve a remotely operated platform, offshore and onshore pipelines, and a new gas-processing plant to be built near the Iona gas plant, Port Campbell.
