On the path to net zero many organisations will need to deploy clean technologies in order to hit their emissions targets.
For that reason, and in alignment with the theme of the 24th World Petroleum Congress, ‘Energy Transition: The Path to Net Zero,’ the Congress will feature a Carbon Tech Expo (CTX) for the first time. The organisers believe this will offer a range of insights to congress attendees as well as help highlight and advance Canada’s growing clean tech industry.
The CTX aims to provide a space to showcase clean technologies at all stages of development within the private, public and academic spheres. Small and midsize Canadian clean tech companies will be presenting their work, as well as organisations such as Canada’s Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN), Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC), Methane Emission Leadership Alliance (MELA) and Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA).
In addition to highlighting Canada’s sector, the CTX will welcome the participation of international firms and organisations. It will exhibit a wide range of technologies that fall into two broad categories: reduction of emission intensities and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).
Technologies in a wide range of sectors, such as hydrogen, methane, biofuels, renewables, nuclear small modular reactors, geothermal and critical minerals, will all be on show. These technologies and approaches have one thing in common: offering users better performance at lower costs, while reducing ecological impacts.
Located in Hall C of the BMO exhibition centre, the CTX will provide an opportunity for clean tech companies and organisations to exchange ideas and best practices, network with others in the sector and discuss potential business development ideas with petroleum companies and financiers attending the Congress.
It will feature an exhibition floor with booths, a main stage area with a programme of speakers, a speakers’ corner area for company presentations and a knowledge cafe for less formal gatherings and workshops. The nearby business to business (B2B) centre also has private meeting rooms that will be available for networking opportunities.
The CTX will run for all four days of the Congress, and each day will have a theme that will help focus the bulk—though not all—of the subject matter for that day.
