The Accompanying Person and Leisure Tour programme includes three days of adventure and costs $750 per delegate for all three tours. Each day starts with a pick-up around 10:00am, returning around 4:00pm.
The first day features a tour of downtown Calgary, with its eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, cultural venues, public squares and shopping. Downtown attractions include the Calgary Tower, Calgary Zoo, National Music Centre, Chinatown district, the Calgary Stampede grounds and military museums.
The tour includes a visit to the Glenbow Museum, an art and history museum that focuses on Western Canadian history and culture, including Indigenous perspectives. The museum’s collection was started over 50 years ago by founder Eric Harvie and contains 33,000 works of art.
The first day also includes a visit to the Chinook Centre, Calgary’s largest shopping, dining and entertainment destination with over 250 stores including major department stores such as Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue.
The second day features a visit to Banff National Park, famous for its surreally coloured lakes, majestic mountains and outdoor adventure potential. Canada's first national park and the world's third, it has a rich heritage as one of the world's most awe-inspiring mountain destinations. The second day includes a visit to Banff Avenue in Banff, which features historic architecture and a range of cafes, restaurants, shops and museums. It also features a tour on the Banff Gondola, providing stunning views of the Canadian Rockies.
The third day sees an exploration of Indigenous culture, featuring a sweetgrass blessing and a hoop dance—a traditional method of storytelling that uses small handmade hoops interlocked to form the shapes of different animals and symbols.
There will also be a visit to Heritage Park, Canada’s second largest living history museum. Heritage Park is located just 15 minutes from downtown Calgary on the banks of the Glenmore Reservoir, and provides visitors with a unique way to experience the history of the Canadian west. It features a number of historical buildings furnished with traditional artefacts and a vintage train runs around the park.
