Poland pivots towards more non-Russian crude
As in gas, the former Communist country is wary of dependence on its heavyweight eastern neighbour
Polish refiner PKN Orlen plans to significantly reduce crude deliveries from Russia’s Rosneft to 3.6mn t/yr over the next two years. This follows a February suspension of Rosneft's supplies to Poland after the parties failed to agree on price following the expiry of their 5.4-6.6mn t/yr contract at the end of January. “The reduction in crude oil supplies under the contract with Rosneft changes nothing for the stability of oil supplies to Orlen Group refineries or fuel supplies in the region,” says Daniel Obajtek, president of the PKN Orlen management board. “We are prepared to meet this challenge, having consistently pursued diversification of supply sources and having established relationsh
