Eni greenlights second Congolese LNG project
Rapid-deployment floating developments are a burgeoning part of the sector
Italy’s Eni is going ahead with a second floating LNG (FLNG) project in Congo-Brazzaville, increasing its liquefaction capacity in the African country by a factor of five. Eni expects the second, 2.4mn t/yr unit will begin production in 2025, following the 0.6mn t/yr Tango FLNG project, which is still on pace to start up this year. Both floating units will source their gas from Congo-Brazzaville’s Marine XII block, and the combined 3mn t/yr capacity will be equivalent to more than 4.5bn m³/yr of gas.
