Exactly how ‘green’ gas is has become a key debate as it aims to secure its place as at least a bridge, if not a decarbonised destination, fuel in the net-zero future. Initiatives such as Project Canary, a Denver startup that aims to provide independent data to producers to demonstrate their work to mitigate emissions, are among those looking to allow gas to answer that question. “Measurement, reporting and verification of emissions is an increasingly important task for producers and consumers of natural gas,” David Lang, partner in the corporate, finance and investments practice at law firm King & Spalding, told Petroleum Economist’s ‘The role of natural gas in the energy transition’
