PE Live Webcast | East Med Rising: Israel's Offshore Bid Round and European Energy Security
On December 13, 2022, the Israeli Ministry of Energy announced the 4th Offshore Bid Round (OBR4) for hydrocarbon exploration in the Israeli EEZ portion of the Eastern Mediterranean, Levant basin.
During the past two decades multi-tcf discoveries were made in this basin, now considered to be a hotspot for gas exploration, in the vicinity of European markets. Israeli natural gas is providing most of the country’s energy production and a significant amount is being exported to neighbouring countries. The Ministry aims to expand this activity based on large, yet-to-find potential that exists offshore Israel.
