The US’ relentless push to create a low-carbon hydrogen economy will benefit the industry’s development in all regions
The US is throwing the kitchen sink at low-carbon hydrogen. In its latest move, the Department of Energy (DOE) in mid-October allocated $7b of funding to support the development of seven regional hubs spanning the whole country. The hubs have the combined potential to meet 30% of the government’s 2030 production target. This “historic” investment is designed to kickstart a national network of producers, consumers and associated infrastructure to accelerate the commercial-scale deployment of low-cost clean hydrogen, said US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
