Snam-Hera Modena hydrogen hub gets €19.5mn boost

Italian energy firms Snam and Hera have received €19.5mn ($21.3mn) in funding—recently unlocked by the European Commission—from the regional government of Emiliano Romagna for a planned green hydrogen hub in Modena, Italy. The IdrogeMO project will produce up to 400t/yr of hydrogen from an electrolyser connected to a 6MW solar farm with battery storage. The project will be sited at an exhausted landfill site, satisfying the requirement for brownfield development to access funding.
