Octopus and Baywa to develop UK green hydrogen
Partners plan to power 6,500kg/d of hydrogen production with on-site renewable energy
A subsidiary of UK energy company Octopus and renewables developer Baywa Re have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on green hydrogen projects in the UK. Octopus will install electrolysers and hydrogen compression and storage facilities alongside selected Baywa wind and solar projects. The partners estimate initial projects could produce up to 6,500kg/d hydrogen. Co-location with renewable energy projects ensures low electricity costs for running an electrolyser, Octopus says.
