FFI advances Brisbane green ammonia project
Firm hopes to take FID on project in 2023 in conjunction with project partner IPL
Green hydrogen developer Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and manufacturing firm Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) are progressing with plans to convert IPL’s Gibson Island ammonia facility to run on green hydrogen. Studies have confirmed the feasibility of constructing a new 500MW electrolyser at the site in Brisbane, Queensland, as well as the retrofitting of IPL’s existing a facility to run on green hydrogen. The project has been advanced to Feed stage to establish technical specifications, as well as construction and procurement costs.
