Europe leads way on green hydrogen – report
The region has the best policy regime for green hydrogen production, which is likely to be key to a decarbonised energy system
More than 213GW of green hydrogen projects are planned for delivery by 2030, a significant increase from the 0.2GW operating currently, according to a report by consultancy Aurora Energy Research. And electrolyser project sizes are scaling up as the technology and supply chains mature. To date, most projects have been between 1MW and 10MW, but by 2025 a typical project will be between 100MW and 500MW. “If all of this capacity were to come online, it could produce up to 32mn t/yr of hydrogen,” says Anise Ganbold, global energy markets lead at Aurora.
