RWE and Northland are developing wind projects in the German North Sea
RWE and Northland partner on 1.3GW German offshore wind cluster
The companies aim to complete Nordsee 2 and 3 and Delta Nordsee windfarms between 2026 and 2028
German utility RWE and Canada-based independent power producer Northland Power have announced plans to co-develop a 1.3GW cluster of three offshore wind projects in the German North Sea. The partners will set up a joint venture to develop, construct and operate the 433MW Nordsee 2, 420MW Nordsee 3 and 480MW Delta Nordsee sites. The projects will be located near the operational 332MW Nordsee 1 windfarm, owned 85pc by Northland and 15pc by RWE. The companies expect projects in the cluster to begin commercial operations between 2026 and 2028. “Germany has set itself ambitious climate targets, thereby establishing a significant growth potential for renewable energies,” says Sven Utermohlen, RWE’
