Floating offshore wind capacity doubles in 2022
Sector is likely to continue to gain momentum as costs fall
The global pipeline of floating offshore wind projects has more than doubled from 91GW a year ago to 185GW today, according to an Energy Pulse Insights report from industry body RenewableUK. Of the total, 121MW is fully commissioned over nine projects in seven countries, 96MW is under construction, 288MW has been approved or is in the pre-construction phase, 31GW is in planning or has a lease agreement, and 153GW is in early development or is in the leasing process.
