Limiting global warming to 1.5°C this century is impossible without immediate and deep emissions reductions across all sectors, according to the latest report from the UN’s Independent Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The Paris Agreement stated a goal of holding the increase in the global average temperatures to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the increase to 1.5°C.
