Blackstone digs deeper on transition
Private equity division Blackstone Energy Partners is looking to finance critical energy infrastructure assets
David Foley is global head of investment management company Blackstone's energy-focused private equity business, Blackstone Energy Partners. Since joining Blackstone in 1995, Foley has played a role in every energy-related private equity deal the firm has made. Blackstone has invested c.$16bn in projects it believes are consistent with the energy transition since 2019, including in the battery storage and energy efficiency sectors. In January this year, the firm said it saw an opportunity to invest an estimated $100bn in the energy transition and climate-change solutions across all its businesses over the next decade. Here, Foley talks to Transition Economist about the outlook for the energy
