ExxonMobil agrees second CCS deal with CF Industries
Project with world’s largest ammonia producer brings US oil major’s third-party CCS portfolio to 5.5mt/yr
ExxonMobil has signed its second major CCS agreement with fertiliser manufacturer CF Industries in a further sign of the oil major’s intent to build a market-leading carbon management business serving third-party industrial customers. Under the latest deal, ExxonMobil will transport and permanently store up to 500,000t/yr of CO₂ captured from CF complex in Yazoo City, Mississippi, which makes nitrogen products for agricultural fertiliser and other products. The project will enable CF, the world’s largest producer of ammonia, to reduce the Yazoo City site’s CO₂ emissions by up to about 50%. Startup is planned for 2028.
