Equinor agrees project to tap Dunkirk emissions
State-backed energy firm agrees with French TSO GRTgaz to develop links into Norwegian CO₂ storage
Norwegian energy company Equinor and French gas transmission operator GRTgaz have signed a project development agreement aimed at creating a transport system capable of taking CO₂ captured from industrial emitters in northern France to permanent storage in Norway. The joint project envisages GRTgaz developing a 30km onshore pipeline network and compressor station in the Dunkirk industrial region, sending CO₂ into the offshore pipeline connecting to CO₂ Highway Europe—a planned 1,000km line linking the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium to storage sites off Norway.
