US eyes funding to scale up CO₂ transport system
Buildout of infrastructure over next decade needed to keep pace with rapid growth of country’s CCS sector
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has signalled its intent to offer funding to support the expansion of CO₂ transportation infrastructure to meet “rapidly growing” demand from the country’s CCS industry. The DOE expects to issue a funding opportunity announcement in the fourth quarter of 2023. The funding would be made available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for DOE’s CO₂ Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Future Growth Grants programme.
