Illinois Beccs project contracts Gas Liquids Engineering
Canadian engineering company hired by Marquis Energy to develop largest Beccs system in the state
US biofuels producer Marquis Energy has contracted Canada’s Gas Liquids Engineering to work on a CCS project for its Illinois bioethanol plant. Once constructed, the project will be the largest operational bioenergy with CCS (Beccs) system in the state of Illinois, with the capacity to put 1.2mn t/yr of CO₂ into permanent storage. CO₂ will be captured from the ethanol facility, compressed, dehydrated and injected into an on-site well for permanent underground storage within the wider Marquis industrial complex. “This project is an exceptional application for CCS technology and will make Marquis a leading producer of low carbon bioproducts,” says Ryan Arnold, director of business development
