Canada signals support for $1bn Heidelberg CCUS project
Government in talks with Germany-based cement maker over proposed project to make Edmonton plant carbon neutral
The Canadian government has provisionally committed to support a proposed C$1.36bn ($1.01bn) project to deploy CCUS at the Edmonton, Alberta plant of Germany-based cement maker Heidelberg Materials. The project, which would be the first of its type in North America, could come onstream in 2026 with a capture capacity of more than 1mn t/yr, Heidelberg says.
