Current commitments to the Paris Agreement will only limit the global average temperature rise to 2.2-2.4°C this century, according to the latest scenario from TotalEnergies. The Paris Agreement’s goal is to limit global warming to “well below 2°C, and preferably 1.5°C”, but nations’ contributions to the deal are voluntary and so far lack the ambition to reach that goal.
