Provisional agreement is still subject to an overall deal on the ETS revision in late December.
The European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission have reached a preliminary agreement on a proposal to include maritime emissions in the EU emissions trading system (ETS). As initially proposed by the Commission, not only journeys inside the EU but also sections of journeys from EU ports to third countries and from third countries to EU ports will be included.
